“Womenomics: Increasing Female Employment and the Future of Korea’s Creative Economy”

On March 28, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies and Goldman Sachs will host “Womenomics: Increasing Female Employment and the Future of Korea’s Creative Economy.” This conference seeks to address questions of how to raise the participation rate of women in Korea’s workforce against a backdrop of a gradual decrease in economic growth resulting from a shrinking population brought on about by rapid aging and a low birth rate. Korea’s Minister of Gender Equality and Family Cho Yoonsun, and Goldman Sachs’ Kathy Matsui, the founder of the term “Womenomics” in 1999 as applied to Japan’s situation, will take part to discuss why the time is now to confront this critical issue for the future of the country.
