Kim Heung-Kyu

Session 4 - "Could Be Worse? China-Japan Relations"

Dr. Kim is a Professor in the department of political science and Director of the China Policy Institute at Ajou University. Previously, he served as a Professor at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS), MOFA for five years, and Sungshin Women’s University. His current assignments include policy advisor to the Presidential Security Council, the Presidential Unification Advisory Council, National Assembly, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Strategy & Finance, Naval Forces, and so on. Also, Dr. Kim was a regular participant at ROK-China Strategic Dialogues and at Korea-China Professional Commission backed by the MOFA. Dr. Kim has written more than 150 articles, books, and policy papers regarding Chinese politics and foreign policy, and security issues in Northeast Asia. He received his B.A. and M.A. in international relations from Seoul National University and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan in 2002.
