Dr. Jay Song is a Korea Foundation senior lecturer in Korean studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Prior to her current positions, she was director of Migration Policy at the Lowy Institute (Sydney), fellow of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs (New York), assistant professor of political science at Singapore Management University, fellow of Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs, London), and consultant for the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (Geneva). Dr. Song is the author and editor of Human Rights Discourse in North Korea: Post-colonial, Marxist and Confucian Perspectives (London: Routledge, 2010), The History of Human Rights Society in Singapore, 1965-2015 (London: Routledge, 2017), Irregular Migration and Human Security in East Asia (London: Routledge, 2014) and a number of academic articles. Her current research focuses on migration in the Asia-Pacific region. She completed her Ph.D. in politics and international studies at Cambridge University.
