On Tuesday, October 27, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted a roundtable with Dr. Fadhl Almaghafi, Dean of the Diplomatic Institute Sana’a in Yemen. Recent developments related to the Yemen crisis were discussed, including elections after unification, the impact of Saudi intervention, small arms proliferation, and the power struggle between the beleaguered President and the Houthis. Dr. Almaghafi argued that Yemen is in need of more “creative elections” where power is not simply given to one party at the exclusion of the other. Instead, it will be important for power to be balanced and shared among multiple political groups.

Several government officials from the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the roundtable.
