On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, the Middle East and North Africa Program at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted a closed roundtable with a senior delegation led by Col. Ali Salim Rafeet, Head of Studies & Curriculum Development Department, from the Defense Studies Centre in the Ministry of Defense of the Sultanate of Oman.
The closed roundtable featured a presentation by Dr. Hahm Chaibong, President of the Asan Institute, on the history of think tanks in South Korea. The meeting also discussed the state of policy research in Korea and Oman, including working mechanisms, organizational procedures, and knowledge building.

About the Defense Studies Centre
The Defense Studies Centre (DSC) was established in 2001 at Ghala Air Base at the direction of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, supreme commander of the Armed Forces of the Sultanate of Oman. The DSC focuses on military and defense issues and produces scientific research with real-world applications.
