The Asan Institute for Policy Studies is an independent, non-partisan think tank

The Asan Institute for Policy Studies, established on February 1, 2008, is named after the founder of the Hyundai Group, the late Chung Ju-Yung, affectionately known by his pen-name, Asan. The Asan Institute is an independent think tank to provide objective and effective policy solutions to many of the issues that Korea, the Northeast Asian region, and the global community face. The Asan Institute’s mandate is to deal with complex issues that heavily affect people, the state, and the East Asian region in the areas of national security, foreign relations, energy, environment, and governance. The goal of the Asan Institute is not only to further the study of policy options, but also to pursue policy development, public diplomacy, and expert training in order to tackle some of the most pressing problems affecting today’s world.

Our Mission

The Asan Institute for Policy Studies is an independent, non-partisan think tank with the mandate to undertake policy relevant research to help foster domestic, regional, and international environment conducive to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula as well as eventual Korean reunification.
