Dr. Storey is a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore. He specializes in Asian security issues, with a focus on Southeast Asia. At ISEAS he is the editor of the academic journal Contemporary Southeast Asia. His research interests include Southeast Asia’s relations with China and the United States, maritime security in the Asia Pacific, and China’s foreign and defence policies. Prior to joining ISEAS he held academic positions at the U.S. Defense Department’s Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS) in Honolulu, Hawaii and at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. He received his Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Storey’s latest books are The Five Power Defence Arrangements at Forty (ISEAS, November 2011) and Southeast Asia and the Rise of China: The Search for Security (Routledge, 2011). He is currently working on a book on China’s defence diplomacy in Southeast Asia.
