Asan Plenum

Prof. Jia Qingguo is a professor at the School of International Studies and the director of the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding at Peking University. He is a member of the Standing Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He is also vice president of the China American Studies Association, vice president of the China Association for International Studies, and vice president of the China Japanese Studies Association. He was the Payne Distinguished Fellow for the 2022 fall quarter at Stanford University, a Center for Northeast Asia Policy Studies (CNAPS) fellow at the Brookings Institution (2001-2002), and a research fellow at the Brookings Institution (1985-1986). He has published extensively on U.S.-China relations, relations between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan and Chinese foreign policy. Prof. Jia received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1988.
