Dr. Lee Hong Koo is the chairman of the Seoul Forum for International Affairs and the East Asia Institute, as well as an advisor to the JoongAng Ilbo. Dr. Lee was the Korean ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1991 to 1993 and to the United States from 1998 to 2000. He also previously served as the prime minister of Korea from 1994 to 1995. Before that, he served twice as the deputy prime minister for unification dealing with inter-Korean relations. He was formerly a member of the Korean National Assembly and the chairman of the then-ruling New Korea Party. Dr. Lee taught political science at Seoul National University for twenty years and was educated at Seoul National University, Emory, and Yale University.
