Dr. Ota is a senior and editorial writer of the largest news wire agency in Japan, Kyodo News. His speciality is nuclear policies and nuclear non-proliferation issues, especially on the US and Japan alliance characterized by ˝Nuclear Umbrella˝ and bilateral nuclear cooperation. His long-term investigative reports on US-Japan nuclear secret arrangements are well known and his scoop in 2009 on this topic triggered the DPJ(Democratic Party of Japan) government investigation in 2009-2010. He wrote several books on nuclear policies like ˝Atomic Ghost˝ in 2008. He was awarded ˝The Vaughn-Uyeda Prize˝ in 2007 and ˝Peace Cooperative Journalist Fund Prize˝ in 2009 on the investigative reports on nuclear related issues. He earned Doctorate on policy studies from GRIPS, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo. He is also a former Fulbright Scholar.
