Dr. Tago Atsushi is the Dean and professor of International Relations at the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University. He specializes in the scientific study of international politics. He also has some works on nuclear proliferation and mass political killing. Dr. Tago publishes articles on American use of force in “Determinants of multilateralism in U.S. use of force” (Journal of Peace Research 42:5) and its coalition of the willing in “When Are Democratic Friends Unreliable?” (Journal of Peace Research 46:2). Additionally, Dr. Tago has recently published an article entitled, “Managing the Costs of Backing Down” (Journal of Politics). He also co-edited the book Japanese Public Sentiment on South Korea: Popular Opinion and International Relations (Routledge, 2022). Previously, Dr. Tago was a PRIO Global Fellow from 2017 until 2022. Dr. Tago received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 2007.
