Lt. Col. Liu is an associate research fellow at the PLA Academy of Military Science (AMS). She graduated from the PLA Foreign Language University where she received her B.A. and M.A. in English language and literature. Her area of focus is Southeast Asian militaries and security. Since 2001, she has worked in the Asia Pacific Office at the Department of World Military Studies at AMS, and she received her Ph.D. in Military Strategy in 2007.
