Park Jin

Foreign Minister, Republic of Korea

The Honorable Dr. Park Jin is Foreign Minister and fourth-term Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, representing Gangnam-2nd District, Seoul. He is also a Senior Member of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee. Previously, Dr. Park led the Asia Future Institute (AFI), was the Chairman of the Korea-America Association (KAA), and also taught as an endowed Chair Professor at the Graduate School of International and Area Studies of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. First elected to the National Assembly (2002), he has served as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Trade and National Unification Committee (2008-2010) during which time he passed the KORUS FTA, Korea-EU FTA, North Korea Human Rights Act, Official Development Assistance (ODA) Law and UN Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) Law. During his 20-year political career, he served as the Presidential Secretary for Press Affairs and later Political Affairs under the Kim Young-sam administration (1993-1998). He received his Bachelor of Laws from Seoul National University, Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Master of Laws from New York University Law School, and his Ph. D. in Politics from St. Antony’s College, Oxford University.
