Participant Biographies

Liu Feng (刘丰)

Vice Chair, Department of International Relations, Nankai University

Dr. Liu is an associate professor and the vice chair of the Department of International Relations in the Zhou Enlai School of Government at Nankai University. He is also an editor of The Chinese Journal of International Politics. His research interests focus on international relations theory and international security in general. Specifically, he is interested in the evolution of realist thought, balance of power theory, alliance politics, great-power politics after the Cold War, and East Asian security. Dr. Liu Feng is the author of The Logic of Balancing: Structural Pressure, Hegemonic Legitimacy and Great-Power Behavior (2010), and co-editor of China’s Rise & World Order (2011). He has translated and co-translated several books, including Kenneth N. Waltz’s Realism and International Politics and Chris Brown and Kirsten Ainley’s Understanding International Relations.
