On Monday, July 7, 2014, the Middle East and North Africa Program at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted a closed roundtable with Professor Efraim Inbar, Director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies in Israel.
One of Israel’s leading strategic thinkers, Prof. Inbar offered an Israeli perspective on the continuing upheaval in the Middle East, including the collapse of state institutions, the rise of political Islam, the ongoing prospect of nuclear proliferation, and perceptions of American decline in the region. The discussion also covered Korean and Israeli approaches to managing historical disputes and dealing with military provocations.

Efraim Inbaris the Director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA) in Israel. Prof. Inbar’s area of specialization is Middle Eastern strategic issues and Israeli national security. He was a member of the Political Strategic Committee of the National Planning Council and the Chair of the Committee for the National Security Curriculum at the Ministry of Education. He is the author of five books on Israeli national security and is a frequent commentator in the international press. He received his B.A. from Hebrew University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
