The Asan Institute for Policy Studies invited Professor Choi Wongi of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security for a discussion on the topic of “G20 Seoul Summit: Prospects and Future Challenges” on November 10, 2010.
Background of the Roundtable
– The G20 Seoul Summit, with its slogan “Shared growth beyond crisis,” is considered to be crucial in the development of a new global economic governance system in this recovery period which was preceded by a global economic crisis.
– After the global economic crisis, cooperation among countries have relatively weakened as each country pursued different recovery speeds and experienced varying levels of recovery. Especially with the U.S.-China conflict over the valuation of the renminbi, the role of the host country, Korea, has become more significant, and along with that the pressure to achieve positive results.
