Introduction
On Monday, January 14, 2013, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted a roundtable with Dr. Vali R. Nasr, Dean of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at the Johns Hopkins University. One of the world’s leading experts on the Middle East and especially Iran, Dr. Nasr held a wide-ranging discussion with Korean policymakers, scholars, and journalists on the topic of “The Arab Spring: Where do we go from here?”

Dr. Nasr discussed the effects that the Arab uprisings have had on the region’s political and development and on U.S. foreign policy, the ongoing international standoff over Iran’s nuclear program, and the rapidly changing economic and energy politics of the region. He also discussed some of the long-term implications that the region’s current transformations are likely to have for the Korean Peninsula and East Asia.
