Dr. Kortunov is the director general of the Russian International Affairs Council, the president of the New Eurasia Foundation, and the president of the Information Scholarship Education Center. Previously, he served as deputy director and head of the Foreign Policy Department at the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies (ISKRAN). He has also been a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Miami. His academic interests include international affairs, the foreign and domestic policy of Russia, and Russian-American relations. He is the author of more than 120 publications, focused on US-Soviet/Russian relations, international security issues, and Soviet/Russian domestic and foreign policy. He graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations and holds a Ph.D. in history from ISKRAN.
