On November 8th, 2016, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted a closed roundtable with Brad Glosserman, Executive Director of the Pacific Forum CSIS. Mr. Glosserman shared key findings from this year’s US–ROK–Japan Trilateral Strategic Dialogue. The strategic dialogue in August assessed military threats from North Korea and its nuclear intentions, followed by a table-top exercise assuming a crisis on and around the Korean Peninsula. The participants discussed about the key takeaways of the trilateral strategic dialogue and shared their views on its outcome. They also talked about the current state of the US extended deterrence policy towards South Korea and Japan, possible areas to enhance US–ROK–Japan trilateral security cooperation, and ideas to strengthen US deterrence and assurance policy toward the Asia-Pacific region.
