Mr. Klingner is the senior research fellow for Northeast Asia at The Heritage Foundation’s Asian Studies Center. Mr. Klingner joined Heritage in 2007 after 20 years in the intelligence community working at the Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency. During 1993-1994, he was the chief of CIA`s Korea Branch which provided analytic reports on military developments during the nuclear crisis with North Korea. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Klingner was the CIA Deputy Division Chief for Korea where he was responsible for analyzing Korean political, military, economic, and leadership issues for the President of the United States and other senior U.S. policymakers. Mr. Klingner has testified several times to Congress, including before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Mr. Klingner received an M.A. in national security strategy from the National War College and an M.A. in strategic intelligence from the Defense Intelligence College.
