Dr. Kang is an associate professor in the School of International and Area Studies at Kookmin University. Previously, she was a research fellow in the Global Research Institute at Korea University from 2001 to 2004, and senior researcher at the Center for International Studies at Seoul National University from 2002 to 2004. She was a visiting scholar in the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University (2010-2011). Her current research interests include gender issues, civil society, and democratization in Russia and Korea. She received her B.A. and M.A in political science from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in Russian studies from Glasgow University.
