Dr. Kim is a professor in the department of political science and diplomacy at Sungkyunkwan University. He served as the Senior Presidential Secretary for the National Security Strategy Office of the ROK President. Prior to joining the Blue House, he was a professor in the Korea National Diplomatic Academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was also the director of the International Cooperation Committee in the New Asia Research Institute. He is the co-author of Foreign Policy in the 21st Century; the editor of The Future of U.S.-Korea-Japan Relations: Balancing Values and Interests; and Korea-Japan Security Relations: Prescriptive Studies. He received his B.A. in political science from Sogang University, his M.A. in public affairs from Cornell University, and his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago.
