On August, 27, 2018, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies hosted the launch event of Korea Matters for America | America Matters for Korea.
Produced jointly by the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, and East West Center in Washington, DC, Korea Matters for America | America Matters for Korea is a reflection on and celebration of the deep ties that bind the Republic of Korea and the United States.
This publication highlights several aspects of ROK-US relations, including the alliance, trade, jobs, investment, and people-to-people exchanges in various levels. In addition, it provides an interactive resource for credible and nonpartisan information, graphics, analysis, and news on diverse regions and partnered cities in the Republic of Korea and the United States.
Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Robert Rapson from the U.S. Embassy, Seoul and Amb. Ahn Ho-Young who served as the Korean Ambassador to the United States delivered congratulatory remarks for this event.
After the presentation of the booklet by Dr. Satu Limaye, Director of the East-West Center Washington Office, a dialogue with experts took place, moderated by Dr. Choi Kang, Vice President of the Asan Institute. Mr. Eric John, President of Boeing Korea, Dr. Hong Kyu-Dok, Professor of Sookmyung Women’s University, Dr. Kim Jiyoon, Senior Fellow at the Asan Institute discussed the future of the ROK-U.S. Alliance. Especially, they shared some of the challenges that may arise and how to sustain the strength of the alliance.
