Mr. Miyake is the research director of the Canon Institute for Global Studies. He is also the president of the Foreign Policy Institute. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 1978 after graduating from the University of Tokyo. He worked as director for Japan-U.S. Security Treaty Affairs from 1998 to 2000, Minister at the Embassy of Japan in both China and in Iraq, and Japan’s representative to the CPA. He later served as executive assistant to Mrs. Akie Abe in the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007.
