On Friday, June 28, 2013, the Asan Institute for Policy Studies held a roundtable with Mr. Michael Gehret, Associate Director, Institute for Advanced Study (IAS). Following Korea’s elevated global status and its increased role in international society, building a world-class research institute and fostering human resources have been currently required.
In the roundtable titled, “Strategies for Building a World-Class Research Institute,” Mr. Michael Gehret presented the history of the IAS and its current status. After the presentation, regarding its subject, the open discussions between the presenter and other participants were progressed. In particular, as a research institute, the independence and autonomy of the IAS and its research capacity of the fusion and complex on basic sciences and humanities and social sciences came to greater participants’ attention.
