Panel Description
Asia’s peace and security now extend far beyond conventional military or economic competition. It encompasses emerging technologies like quantum, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. States are also competing in new domains such as space, cyber, and renewable energy. Non-state groups and transnational actors such as hacker groups, terrorists, and diaspora communities have eroded traditional borders. The rules and norms of these emerging security issues remain in flux and could trigger crises. What will be the key security issues of Asia’s future? How should states harness emerging security tools for cooperation?
