
Chen Dongxiao
Prof. Chen Dongxiao is a Senior Research Fellow and President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). Specializing in the studies of the United Nations, China’s foreign policy, and China-U.S. relations, Prof. Chen has published extensively on China’s diplomacy, major power relations, the United Nations reform, and global governance. In his responsibility as the SIIS President and senior policy adviser to the government, he has chaired numerous research projects commissioned by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. He has also supervised extensive academic publications supported by the China National Foundation of Social Sciences. Additionally, he is a senior advisor on economic diplomacy for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and a senior advisor for the International Business Leaders Advisory Council (IBLAC) for the Mayor of Shanghai. He also holds international positions, including serving as a high-level advisor for the Independent Team of Advisors (ITA) on the ECOSOC Dialogue on the longer-term positioning of the United Nations Development System (2016), and as a member of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF)’s Expert and Eminent Persons (EEP) group, among others.
