Sarah Bessell

Ms. Bessell is a program assistant in the Center for Conflict Management at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP). In this capacity, she is responsible for coordinating USIP’s three Northeast Asia Track 1.5 initiatives: U.S.-China project on crisis avoidance and cooperation, U.S.-ROK-Japan Trilateral Dialogue in Northeast Asia, and the Korea Working Group. She serves as the editor of USIP’s Asia Special Report series and will be developing and organizing the upcoming “Informal Markets and Peacebuilding in North Korea” project. Ms. Bessell holds a M.A. in conflict resolution from Georgetown University and a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Mount St. Mary’s College.
