Kim Hong Kyun
Mr. Kim Hong Kyun has been the 1st Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Korea since 2024. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984 after passing the Diplomatic Service Exam. Since then, Mr. Kim held many significant positions serving for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He most recently served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany (2022) before becoming the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. Previously, Mr. Kim also served as the Senior Staff of the Subcommittee on Foreign and National Security, of the 20th Presidential Transition Committee (2022), Deputy Minister for Political Affairs (2015), Secretary to the President for International Policy Cooperation (2013), Senior Assistant Secretary in the Office of the President (2006), and many more. He was also an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Dong-a University (2019-2022). Mr. Kim received his B.A. in English Language and Literature at Seoul National University (1984) and his M.A. in Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia (1988).
