Dr. Richard Falkenrath is a Senior Fellow at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, as well as a Senior Fellow for National Security at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Dr. Falkenrath is also a member of the Aspen Strategy Group and a member of the Mission Committee of the Board of Governors of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Until summer 2024, he was Head of Client Service and Head of Geopolitics at Bridgewater Associates, where he served as a Bridgewater Partner and a member of the firm’s Operating Committee. He was Chief Administrative Officer (2020-2022) and led Bridgewater’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, Dr. Falkenrath was Chief Security Officer (2014-2019). He was also a member of the National Security Council and White House staff (2000-2004), ultimately as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Homeland Security Advisor. He served as Deputy Commissioner for Counterterrorism of the New York City Police Department (2006-2010). Prior to the White House, he was an Assistant Professor at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
