Dr. Salah is the director of the Aljazeera Centre for Studies?a think tank linked to the Aljazeera Media Network in Qatar. The centre focuses on studying and analyzing geopolitical changes and developments in the Middle East and its surroundings. He is also a regular commentator on African affairs. Before joining Aljazeera, Dr. Salah was involved in academic research and teaching at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He served as a research coordinator with the Johannesburg-based Volunteer and Service Enquiry Southern Africa. His research and teaching were focused on citizenship and development challenges in Africa and Latin America. Dr. Salah also had a long history of youth leadership and activism, involvement in non-governmental organizations, and participation in policy-making and legislation processes in Sudan.
