Amb. Mizushima Koichi is the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Korea. After joining the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985, he held various positions at Japanese foreign missions in the United States, the Philippines, Ghana, and Geneva. He served as Minister, as well as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea, and most recently as Ambassador of Japan to the State of Israel. During his career in Japan, Amb. Mizushima held key positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Director of the OECD Division of the Economic Affairs Bureau, the Second North America Division, the Press Division of the Public Diplomacy Department, and the Financial Affairs Division of the Minister’s Secretariat. He later took on roles as Deputy Press Secretary/Deputy Director-General for Press and Public Diplomacy, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Policy Bureau, and Director-General of the Consular Affairs Bureau. Amb. Mizushima graduated from the University of Tokyo.
