Biography

Dr. Alice EKMAN is Head of China research at IFRI’s Center for Asian Studies. She is also an associate professor at Sciences Po in Paris. Her research interests include China's relations with its neighbors, cross-strait relations, China-Europe/France relations, China's approach towards global governance and multilateralism, track II and informal diplomacy. Most recently, she also conducts research on South Korea's foreign policy, and in particular China-Korea relations as seen from both Beijing and Seoul. Fluent in Mandarin, she regularly exchanges with Chinese and other East-Asian counterparts and conducts fieldwork in the region. She is presently a member of the EU Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (CSCAP) and a senior associate fellow at the European Union Institute for Security Studies(EUISS). She holds a Ph.D. from Sciences Po in international relations and a M.Sc. from the London School of Economics(international relations, economic history and anthropology - China focus).
