Professor Han is Deputy Director of the National Institute of International Strategy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He has worked at CASS since 1984in the Institute of World Economics and Politics (1986-1988) and the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (1988-2010). The Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies was recently renamed the National Institute of International Strategy. His research interests include the current international relations in the Asia-Pacific region, especially relations among the ASEAN nations and with outside powers and the regional security. He was previously a visiting scholar at the University of Tasmania in Australia and Uppsala University in Sweden. He has also served as the Vice President for the Chinese Association of Asia-Pacific Studies since 2009 and the China Association of Southeast Asia Studies since 2000. He graduated from the Department of International Politics at Peking University in 1982.
