Ms. Nakano is a fellow for the Energy and National Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Previously, she was with the US Department of Energy (DOE) and served as the lead staff on US energy engagements with China, Japan, Indonesia, North Korea, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Her research interests include energy security issues in Asia, nuclear energy, and natural gas. Her recent publications include Next Steps for U.S. LNG Exports; Prospects for Shale Gas Development in Asia; and Civil Nuclear Energy Cooperation between the United States and Japan. She received her B.A. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and an M.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
