Dr. Kim is professor of International Relations at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) and director of Ilmin International Relations Institute at Korea University. He most recently served as a Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade from February 2012 to March 2013. Before entering the government, he was a professor and associate dean at Korea University GSIS and also a professor at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (1994-2007). Previously, he also worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences and as expert advisor to the Prime Minister’s Committee for Globalization (1992-1994). Dr. Kim is currently the Chair of World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on WMD and the Chair of the Korean National Committee of CSCAP (Council on Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific). He also served as a Vice President of the Korean Association of International Studies, President of Korean Association of American Politics (KAAP), and Chairman of the Vision Council for the ROK-U.S. Security Policy Initiative. He has served on numerous presidential commissions, councils, and committees related to foreign affairs and national security issues. Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
