Professor Kim is a professor in the Department of Political Science & International Studies, the director of the Yonsei Institute for North Korean Studies, and director of the Yonsei Leadership Center. He is also the editor of the journal North Korean Review. Previously, he was the associate dean of the College of Social Science and chair of the Department of Political Science & International Studies. Before joining Yonsei, he worked for the Joongang Ilbo’s politics section as a specialist reporter and the Korean Institute for Korean Unification. He is the author of North Korean Foreign Policy: Security Dilemma & Succession (2011). He has been a visiting scholar at Keio University and U.C. Berkeley. He received a B.A. from Yonsei University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University.
