Melissa Hanham joined the James Martin Center for Non-proliferation Studies as a Research Associate in the East Asia Nonproliferation Program in 2011. Her research interests include the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, North Korean weapons of mass destruction (WMD), procurement and proliferation networks, North Korea`s external relations, and East Asian security. She also studies South Korean and Japanese nuclear exports and East and Southeast Asia`s export control systems. Previously, she worked for International Crisis Group in Beijing, China and Seoul, South Korea. Melissa holds a master’s in international security policy and East Asia from Columbia University`s School of International and Public Affairs, and a bachelor’s in international studies from Johns Hopkins University.
