Mr. Álvarez is the director of the Non-proliferation and Nuclear Disarmament Project supported by the Norwegian Government. Previously, he was a professor of International Relations at the Chilean Diplomatic Academy, Andrés Bello University of Chile, and other universities. He is the author of Nuclear Arms: The Uncertainty of Nonproliferation and Disarmament (2008), and co-author of Building Trust?: Frontiers, Military and Latin-America Policy (2008). He also has written the chapters: “Towards a Global Zero: Fiction or Reality?” (2010) and “Weapons Acquisition in Latin America: The Chilean Case a Successful Military Politic Modernization?” (2010). He received an M.A. from Tsukuba University, was an International Visitor Leadership Student, is a journalist and licensed in Social Communication by the University Diego Portales, and is currently an M.A. candidate at the Institute of International Studies at University of Chile.
