Mr. Alvarez is the director of the Non-proliferation and Nuclear Disarmament Project supported by the Norwegian Government. Mr. Alvarez has been a professor of International Relations at the Chilean Diplomatic Academy, Andrés Bello University of Chile, and other universities. He is the author of Nuclear Arms: the uncertainty of nonproliferation and disarmament (2008), and co-author of Building Trust?: frontiers, military and Latin-America policy (2008). He also has written the chapters: “Towards a Global Zero: fiction or reality?” (2010) and “Weapons acquisition in Latin America: the Chilean case a successful military politic modernization?” (2010). He received an M.A. from Tsukuba University, was an International Visitor Leadership Student, is a journalist and licensed in Social Communication by the University Diego Portales, and is currently an M.A. candidate at the Institute of International Studies at University of Chile.
