Panel Description
The world today faces multi-faceted demographic crises that will have long term societal effects. As waves of migrants spill over borders seeking refuge from violence and persecution, countries are being forced to confront pressing issues of identity and xenophobia while securing their national borders. These debates challenge the fundamental assumptions and values of many Western nations. Meanwhile, the rapidly aging populations of certain European and Asian states have created generational divides that will place unprecedented strain on their economies. How will these demographic changes affect national security? Does the international community have the intellectual and operational tools to address these crises in the “New Normal” era?
