Panel Description
As the second most populous country in the world, the third largest economy in Asia, and the world’s largest democracy, India’s role in international affairs will rise. Prime Minister Modi has actively pursued forging new ties with the West and rebuilding relationships with its Asian neighbors. As India and China vie for regional influence, both countries are creating new dimensions for cooperation and competition. With Northeast Asian economies struggling to maintain positive economic growth, the Indo-Pacific region could become a new engine driving the global economy. Does India have what it takes to become the dominant player in Asia? What impact does the U.S. have on India-China competition?
