Dr. Jaishankar is a career diplomat from the Indian Foreign Service. Prior to his posting in China, he was posted to Indian missions in Moscow, Washington, Budapest, Tokyo, Prague, and Singapore and has been press secretary to the President of India from 1994-1995. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in International Relations. He is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London. He is married to Kyoko Jaishankar and has two sons and a daughter.
