Dr. Matveev is the Leading Research Scholar of the Center for Strategic Problems of North-East Asia and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Institute of Far Eastern Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He was a Counselor at the Committee on Federation Affairs and Regional Policy for the Russian State Duma from 1994-2004, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Pricing from 1978-1994, and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Gas Industry Economics from 1974-1978. Dr. Matveev received a Ph.D. in economics from the Institute of Pricing.
