Participant Biographies

Yoon Young-seok

Member (Saenuri Party), National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

Representative Yoon is a member of the 19th National Assembly (Saenuri Party) of the Republic of Korea, where he sits on the Trade, Industry and Energy Committee. Previously, he was a visiting fellow at Harvard University (2011-2012), a visiting scholar at Beijing University (2010-2011), and a visiting professor at China Communication University (2010). In his private capacity, he has been serving as the Executive Director of the Asian City Forum since August 2009. Before entering politics, he worked for the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. After passing the 37th Civil Service Exam, he worked as the Deputy Director of the Labor Standards Bureau (1995-1996) and the Employment Insurance Bureau (1996-1998) at the Ministry of Employment and Labor. At the Seoul Metropolitan Government, he served as the Deputy Director for Culture and Environment (1998-2000), Senior Secretary to the Mayor for Civil Complaints (2000-2002), Director for Cultural Policy (2005-2007), and Director of the Global Marketing Division (2007-2010). He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Diplomacy from Sungkyunkwan University, Korea, and an M.A. in International Development Policy from the Duke Sanford School of Public Policy.
