TwitterDr. Fuji-ie graduated from the Department of Physics at the University of Tokyo in 1958, and received his Ph. D in 1963. He worked as an associate professor of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Osaka University, and rendered distinguished service in the study on nuclear reactor systems and the safety of advanced nuclear systems covering fast reactors and advanced thermal reactors. In 1986, he joined the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and was promoted to be the head of the laboratory in 1989. In 2001, he was appointed as chairperson of the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan.
