Mr. Yang is senior fellow at the China Institute of International Studies for China Foreign Policy Research. He was, as the inaugural director of the Office for Korean Peninsula Affairs in the Chinese Foreign Ministry, heavily involved in the Six-Party Talks and authorized to draft The Joint Statement. He also took part in Four-Party Talks. He was a Pentech Fellow at Stanford University (2006-2007), and was invited to lecture at Harvard and Stanford universities. Because of his contribution to policy research, he was named an “outstanding expert in the field of social science research” by the State Council of China, and received an Honorable Award from the State Council.
