Is China Prepared for International Leadership?

U.S. Air Force and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2007, he retired as one of the U.S. State Department’s top Asia hands, including service as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and Deputy Chief of Mission and Charg? d’Affaires in Seoul. He also served at the U.S. embassies in Beijing and Tokyo. He is fluent in Chinese, Korean and Japanese. He has extensive experience negotiating with the DPRK. From 2007 to 2010 he was President and CEO of The Korea Society. From 2010 to 2011 he taught at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He is a graduate of Princeton University.
