Kim Joon-hyung

Dr. Kim is Professor of the International Studies Department in Handong Global University. He teaches and conducts researches topics such as international relations in general, U.S.-Korea relations, and North-South Korean issues. He served as a director of Security and Diplomacy Center of an independent think tank, Korea Institute for Future Strategies (KIFS) from 2008 to 2010. He was invited as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar to George Mason University, Department of Public and International Affairs, Fairfax, VA, from 2005 to 2006. He has served on the Presidential Committee for Policy Planning (foreign policy) from 2004 to 2005. His publications include “Unpredictable G2 Relations and the Dilemma of US’ China Policy” (National Strategy, 2012, in Korean) “Analysis on Implications of the ROK-U.S. Strategic Alliance based on International Politics Theories of Alliance” (International Politics Review, 2009, in Korean), “The Korean State and the Cyclical Fluctuation of Governance: Does It Still Matter?” (The 21st Century Political Science Review, 2008, in English), What If the United States Were Not a Hegemon? (Seoul: DD Stone Press, 2008, in Korean). He received his B.A. from Yonsei University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from George Washington University.
