Zhang Tuosheng

Dr. Zhang is a Senior Fellow and Chairman of the Academic Committee and Director of the Center for Foreign Policy Studies at the China Foundation for International Strategic Studies. He also serves on the board of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, China Arms Control And Disarmament Association, and the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at Peking University. reviously, he was an instructor as the People’s Liberation Army Military College, a research fellow at the PLA National Defense University Institute for Strategic Studies, and as Deputy Defense Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom. His main research interests are Sino-US relations, Sino-Japan relations, crisis management, Asia-Pacific security and China’s foreign policy. Dr. Zhang has written extensively on U.S.-China relations, including U.S.-China-E.U. Relations: Managing the New World Order (co-authored, Routledge, 2010) and Managing Sino-American crises: case studies and analysis (co-authored, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, 2006). He received his master’s degree in Modern Chinese History from the Chinese Central Party School in 1986.
